Next year will be a particularly important one for LMCC. We will be opening our new residency program in Building 110 on Governors Island: 20 studios for visual artists and two large rehearsal spaces for performing artists, all free of charge. We will be programming our brand new LentSpace, an open-air art park on Canal Street, with sculpture, music, and dance. And we will continue to offer much-needed studio space all over Lower Manhattan to artists from across NYC’s five boroughs, and to provide grants and professional development to artists and small arts groups in Manhattan and arts education programming in our local schools. Our ground-breaking outdoor public dance series Sitelines will begin its 7th season next summer; Poems and Pints will present premier poets in historic downtown pubs for a 3rd season; and our largely popular Access Restricted program will continue to meld tours of unique downtown buildings that are normally off-limits to the public with provocative lectures by scholars, architects, and urban planners. LMCC’s Annual Gala helps us keep all of these projects free and accessible to our artists and audiences.
